Description

A crimped brass-wire wheel for light cleaning, brightening and polishing where steel wire would scratch too deeply. The listed example is 200 mm diameter with a 32 mm bore and a 20 mm face, filled with fine crimped brass wire. Diameter, face width, bore and wire type (brass, brass-coated steel, carbon or stainless steel) are made to order.

Brass wire is softer than the steel it is usually cleaning, so it removes oxide, carbon and light paint while leaving a brighter, less scored surface. It is a common pick for brass, copper and aluminum fittings, mold cleaning, and jobs where a softer, non-sparking fill is preferred. For heavy scale or weld spatter, a steel or knotted wheel will work faster.

When requesting a quote, list the diameter, face width and bore (or your spindle size if you want reducer bushings), the wire material and gauge, and the machine it will run on with its speed. Note whether it is for hand-held drills, bench grinders or automated finishing cells, and your annual quantity, so the factory can confirm hub style and packing.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose brass over steel wire?
Brass is softer, so it cleans and brightens with less scratching; it suits soft metals and delicate finishing.
What bore sizes can be made?
13, 16, 19, 22, 25.4 and 32 mm bores are listed, and the 32 mm version can come with plastic reducers.
Can the same wheel be made in steel wire?
Yes. Carbon steel, stainless steel and brass-coated steel wire are listed as alternative fills.
